Tina’s Top Ten Writing Rules to Live By

#10      Always start with an outline, even for fiction

#9        Write first, edit later

#8        Don’t let anyone read your manuscript until the first draft is completed

#7        Try to get into a writing groove, whether it’s at the same time every day, or in a notebook you take everywhere and write every time you get a free 10 minutes here and there. Get in a daily habit and try to stick to it!

#6        Use spell/grammar check as a back up for your own editing

#5        Always have at LEAST one more pair of eyes proof your work before mailing it out!

#4        Read every day; Write every day; Train daily, like an athlete.

#3        Do your best to quiet that “negative inner voice” by surrounding yourself with

supportive friends that “get” what writing is to you, and cheer you on!

#2        Forgive yourself for that “yucky first draft". Remember it is just that, “a first draft” to warm you up, and get the ball rolling. Don’t be so critical!

#1      Get your butt in the chair and WRITE!
